This website acts as the Public Engagement Portal to help connect the public with the South Bend Brownfield Coalition's efforts. From late 2014 through 2017 we will efficiently identify, prioritize, plan and assess brownfield conditions throughout St. Joseph County, IN.

Phase I ESA: 121 S. St. Joseph Street (South Bend)

The Coalition conducted a Phase I ESA on this parking lot to assist with the redevelopment of an adjacent property.  After the College Football Hall of Fame departed, it has remained underutilized. The project is expected to create 30 new jobs and provide an economic benefit to the community of between $5 million and $6 million annually, and return two parcels to the tax rolls from municipal exempt status.

Former College Football Hall of Fame Site Reactivation

A 5 story brick hotel will be built on the subject site of this Phase I ESA and help re-activate this critical downtown area.
