Lakeville Clears key “Barn Site” for Wetland Park (September, 2017)

Lakeville, IN remains on the move.  Though the US31 roadway has moved, that has opened up a new view of the future for the community.  As Lakeview shifts from planning efforts into quality of life implementation, the South Bend Brownfield Coalition has helped Lakeville with environmental assessment due diligence.  When acquiring several properties for the Lakeville Wetland Park the Town of Lakeville identified 7 brownfield sites of interest as priority sites.  Over the last 3 years, the South Bend Brownfield Coalition has provided two Phase I ESAs and a Phase I ESA Update for the Wetlands Park project, met several times to offer technical assistance, and also helped Lakeville gain additional US EPA Cool & Connected technical advisory assistance. The cooperative effort has been boosted by the diligent work of Lakeville residents – as evidenced in these photos of volunteer community action!
