The City of South Bend, Mishawaka, and St. Joseph County to successfully apply for US EPA Brownfield grant funding for a $600,000 FY2014 US EPA award. This website acts as the Public Engagement Portal to help connect the public with the South Bend Brownfield Coalition's efforts. From late 2014 through 2017 we will efficiently identify, prioritize, plan and assess brownfield conditions throughout St. Joseph County, IN.

Public Engagement Meeting – April 2, 2015

The Brownfield Coalition formally introduced the US EPA grant funded Brownfields Community Wide Assessment Grant Coalition project to the community on April 2, 2015 at a public meeting in the Humphries Room of the St. Joseph County Library. During the meeting Chris Dressel, Project Lead from the City of South Bend introduced the project, the parties from coalition member partners Mishawaka, and St. Joseph County, and the core consultant team.  Ryan Eckdale Dudley (Symbiont) and Chris Harrell (Lazarus Group LLC) discussed the GIS mapping of the brownfield inventory, the prioritization process, and the value this effort will play in assisting economic development.  Nivas Vijay (Heartland Environmental) discussed the environmental investigation process.
